Representatives of the small Local Exchange Carriers that are members of CalCom spent the day in Sacramento on February 10th to lobby for the extension of the California High-Cost Fund-A (CHCF-A) program to 2033. Funding from the CHCF-A program is critical to providing affordable telephone service in the rugged, sparsely populated areas where these companies deliver state-of-the-art service. The group capped off a successful day by meeting the author of the bill to extend the CHCF-A – the dynamic Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, who represents Ponderosa Telephone’s service area in San Bernardino County.
