POSITION:  Construction Technician

Sierra Tel is currently seeking (3) Construction Technicians to join its team. Qualified applicants will enjoy working outdoors, in a variety of locations, and perform all aspects of underground utility locating, marking, repairing, and installing. A typical day may include hauling equipment, locating underground utilities, plowing, trenching, directional boring, setting pedestals, or pulling fiber. Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving experience. Able to obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license prior to completion of the second calendar year of employment.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) is desirable.
  • Full-time work schedule. Hours vary with Summer Schedule and Winter Schedule. This position may be required to work overtime including weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Must have the ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
  • Three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in underground construction-related activities is desirable.

Routine tasks include tariff modification or preparation, reading and interpreting changes from governing bodies, and providing accurate data analysis using various software programs. Responsibilities also include preparing various reports, which may be complex at times. This position is responsible to provide reliable networking and switching services by maintaining the consistent operation of all equipment. As such, Sierra Tel is seeking an experienced IT Network Technician to provide exceptional and reliable network services, including network security, switching, and routing of all Central Office Data. The selected candidate will be responsible to engineer, install, and troubleshoot items such as routers, switches, wireless networks, Metro Ethernet, DSL technologies, optical carrier systems, and fiber-optic networks. POSITION:  Facilities Engineer

Our Engineering department is looking for a telecommunications engineer to join its team. The Facilities Engineer is crucial to properly place telecommunications equipment for maximum service to the community. This position is responsible to research, design, and coordinate the location of Plant fiber, cable, and electronic facilities. Daily duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting inspections of assigned projects
  • Ensuring work is being completed to RUS standards
  • Utilizing Mapcom (M4 mapping) and Global Positioning System (GPS) software for layout, design, and recordkeeping

TDS TELECOM

POSITION:  Field Service Technician-Network

The FST-Network installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains telecommunications products and equipment that TDS sells and leases (Key Systems, PBX, Centrex Systems, and/or other business systems). This position performs work associated with splicing and maintaining outside plant facilities and equipment. This position installs, splices, repairs, and maintains aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and copper cable. The FST-Network has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of telecommunications.

The FST-Network has direct, face-to-face contact with our customers and is expected to be proactive with the sales of TDS services and products. Services include, but are not limited to, Telephony, Video/CATV/DBS, Internet, and/or high-speed networks. This position exceeds customer expectations by performing extraordinary customer service, identifying customer needs, and providing them with communications solutions. This position also understands how to use and demonstrate TDS products and seeks sales opportunities while educating the customer.
